Campanet, Mallorca

The hilltop village of Campanet is situated on the edge of spectacular Tramuntana Mountain Range. It’s claim to fame is its amazing limestone caves, said to house the longest stalactite in the world. It also makes a good starting point for an exhilarating drive to the mountain top Monastery at Lluc via the picturesque village of Caimari.

The area of Campanet is a favourite base for cyclists and walkers as there are many different routes close by and you have different options of all levels close by.

Despite its small size, Campanet has two bakeries, two well-stocked supermarkets, a chemist, and a newsagent. The sunny church plaza has several simple bars, which serve tapas and simple meals and small shops. It is a pleasant spot in the morning to enjoy a coffee and warm croissant before heading off for the day.

The village has remained a peaceful backwater, but with a thriving local community. The village is virtually untouched by tourism, even though Palma and the airport are only 30 minutes away.

Old Pollença, is a must with a good choice of small shops and boutiques where you will find some interesting local crafts, jewellery, fashions, and leather goods.

The restaurants are amazing frequented by all nationalities included the locals.

Visit the village to discover its history and heritage, The Calvari is worth a visit take a bottle of water with you as you must take the 365 steps up to the top to enjoy the spectacular views.

There are two ways to get there, 1st option is a 20-minute drive along a delightful country road or the main roads that will take approximately the same time.

Selva is small town close by, a 10-minute drive from Campanet which will bring you to the attractive hill village. It has at least three restaurants, including one above the church square, with a huge dining terrace enjoying panoramic views all the way to the coast.

For a truly memorable occasion, you can book a table at a small hotel C’an Furios in the neighbouring village of Binibona. There, the wonderful meals are served on a candlelit terrace.

The town of Inca is only a 10-minute drive from Campanet. Inca is famous for it’s leather goods and having the biggest market on the island which is on a Thursday.

If you do not feel like driving, you can also catch a train to Palma from Inca which passes through many small villages and the countryside.

Each of the small towns in Mallorca is designated a day of the week for a produce market. The Campanet market is on Tuesday.

The nearest beaches at Puerto Pollença, Cala San Vincent, Alcudia and Playa Muro which are all approx. 25-minute drive.

Can Tio, a large traditional house, which is located at the edge of the village, bordering the rural land. It is just a 7–8 minute walk to the central plaza. The house has spectacular views of the Valley of Axartell, the Tramuntana mountains, with the Bay of Alcudia in the distance.

The house is an ideal base for horse riding, walking, and exploring the surrounding villages through a network of tiny roads and lanes. There are 5 bikes for the use of guests and there are horse riding excursions that can be arranged for you at an extra cost please ask.

The house itself has a large veranda for alfresco dining, traditional Mallorca terracotta tiles and wooden-beamed ceilings. It is surrounded by terraces and rustic gardens. Sitting on the veranda, you will be able to listen to the birds and the sound of sheep bells. Enjoy the tranquility and the clean fresh air of the countryside.

Leading off the veranda on the first floor is a massive and ancient wooden doorway. The entrance has a batiport, which is traditional to Mallorca and is a type of preliminary entranceway.

Off the traditional entrance-hall are two double bedrooms which look out onto gardens. The bedrooms are separated by an ensuite bathroom.

The numerous French doors lead out onto the veranda to this lovely chill out area.

There is a voluminous inbuilt fireplace for winter entertaining.


The dining room and kitchen have lovely views to the mountains and valley and are connected to the garden and pool.


The kitchen is fully equipped and has a separate, marble-shelved pantry.

Upstairs is the master bedroom, with a terrace looking out over the swimming pool.



The ensuite bathroom has a raised bath, (as well as a shower), from which you can survey the surrounding countryside and hills.

The other large bedroom on the upper floor also has a large ensuite bathroom and a terrace looking out over the old olive and palm trees in the garden.


Separating the two bedrooms is another sitting room and library.


Palms and olives surround the house. Beyond the house is a lovely swimming pool. From here you can cross the terrace to a cabana with a changing room. The cabana, called a “porche” in Mallorca, has an outdoor summer kitchen with both wood-fired and gas barbeques, as well as a wood-fired oven.



The house and pool are enfolded in the surrounding countryside by the bosque, a green oasis of carob trees, wild olives, and holm oaks.
